جاء في دراسة لمركز أبحاث (كوبنهاجن كونسينساس) ان العنف ضد المرأة يكلف العالم خمسة في المئة على الاقل من الناتج المحلي الاجمالي وجاء في توصية جديدة ان التأثير السلبي للعنف ضد النساء والفتيات على الاقتصاد العالمي يعطي المؤسسات المالية الدولية دورا بارزا لوضع حد لهذه الممارسات...

وقالت كارين جرون من مجموعة البنك الدولي في مؤتمر مختص نقلت وكالة رويترز تفاصيله"منظمات التنمية والمؤسسات المالية وبدرجة كبيرة القطاع الخاص بدأوا يدركون هذا الثمن.

وشارك في وضع نشرة الموارد الارشادية البنك الدولي وبنك التنمية للبلدان الامريكية ومعهد المرأة العالمي بجامعة جورج واشنطن ويقدم الدليل ارشادات للعاملين في التنمية منها جهود منع العنف ضد النساء والفتيات في المشروعات التي يديرونها وكيفية الرد عليه...

وقالت جرون إن هذا النوع من العنف يؤثر بشكل مباشر في رخاء الجميع ويعوق جهود القضاء على الفقر المدقع.

وأحد القطاعات التي تتأثر اقتصاديا بالعنف ضد المرأة هي أنظمة الرعاية الصحية التي تتحمل تكاليف كبيرة.

وتظهر الابحاث انه في الولايات المتحدة على سبيل المثال تزيد تكاليف الرعاية الصحية للنساء ضحايا العنف البدني بنسبة 42 في المئة عن النساء اللاتي لا تنتهك حقوقهن...
